From Derek: During the xmas boogie there will be a speed star competition. If you haven't competed/participated in a speed star comp then you need to get your baptism of fire. The speed star is exactly what it says, 10 jumpers exit the aircraft and as soon as the first bit of body is out the door, the stop watch is on. The aim is then to build a 10 way star as quickly as possible with no designated slots. Teams get points for speed and also if not completed, how many do get in. The norm is absolute chaos with the only rules being safety is still the name off the game. You need to have your star crest to compete, skills are the ability to get onto the star fast and safe, so diving down on a fast moving base and tracking away at the completion are about the most important. Last year we only had about 3 teams and we would like to get more as this is one of the funniest events in skydiving. Geoff and myself are already involved but the more the merrier. If you are interested let me know and we can get some teams going and maybe do a few practice jumps leading up to xmas.
